New procedures for student drop off and pick up will go into effect on Tuesday, February 20th. For the safety and security of all our Atalaya Community, we urge you to read and follow the new protocols, described below:
Early Pick-up – Parents may not pick up students between 2:30 and 2:50. If an early pick-up is needed, this must be completed before 2:30pm. Any changes to student pick up must be reported by 2:30pm.
Parent Walk-in – Students will be dismissed from the gym. The gym door will not be opened until ~2:55pm. Students will be in the gym with a grade level teacher, seated by 2:55pm. Parents must walk to the gym and sign their student out from the teacher(s). Please do not take your child without signing out with the teacher; we need to know they went to the correct parent. No student or parent will be able to enter back into the school building without checking in at the front office and getting a sticker as we still have afterschool care happening at this time.
Parent Drive-up – Students will be dismissed from the cafeteria. Parents going through the drive through must have their nameplates on the front dash to expedite student pick up. If you do not have a nameplate, please let the front office know and one will be made for you.
TeamCARE Enrichment Classes/Aftercare – Students in enrichment classes/aftercare will stay with their teachers. At 3:05pm, the TeamCARE staff will sign-out students from the teachers, in the cafeteria. We will continue the current sign-out procedure(s) for TeamCARE parent pick-up.
Morning Drop-Off – Curbside Kiss n’ Go – In the mornings, we ask that you drive up, curbside and allow your child to walk themselves to class/breakfast - especially students in grades 1-6. If you want to walk your child to class, you must sign in at the office and get an ID sticker. Pre-K families must still sign their student(s) in and out daily from the Pre-K classroom.
The SAC will continue to collect ideas/suggestions and to explore alternatives, to ensure Atalaya is a safe and welcoming community. Please share any input you have on ideas around safety and security with me at email@example.com and watch for a parent survey to gather input, in the near future.
